Getting any permalinks at all to work on IIS (2 posts)

    Hello,
I am trying to install on IIS. I cannot get any permalinks to work. I don't even care if they are pretty. Just getting the /index.php/whatever kind of permalinks would be enough.

I have asked the hosting company to apply the settings to us a 404 handler page and I have put in code into my wp-404-handler.php page that I have found on various sites around the web. But the hosting company was not able to select the option for URL instead of FILE. I do not get my 404 page at all or the original windows server 404 page either.

So far they have not been able to change the PHP.ini setting either to set the cgi.fix_pathinfo = 1.

Is there any other way to make almost pretty permalinks work on IIS, nevermind the pretty ones? Or am I completely out of luck?

    that's all I have

why do you need a windows server? ask your host to switch you to linux and all of your software will be happier
