[resolved] Getting a fatal error after attempting auto WordPress update (23 posts)

I updated the site yesterday and it was fine. I was alerted it was time to update so I installed "UpdraftPlus - Backup/Restore", clicked auto update and didn't pay it anymore attention.

Today I logged in to post and received the following message when attempting to save a draft:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_unslash() in /home/ayejoh46/nubianingenue.com/wp-admin/includes/post.php on line 630

I get nothing at all when attempting to preview the post, and when I tried to uninstall the "Updraft Backup program" Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_unslash() in /home/ayejoh46/nubianingenue.com/wp-admin/includes/post.php on line 85.

So then, I read to upload every file from the update except the "wp-content" folder. I'm lost as to what to do next as I'm clearly not good at writing code. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Deactivate all plugins, revert to Twenty Twelve theme and try to update. You can put back your theme and plugins after updating.

When trying to deactivate plugins I get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_unslash() in /home/ayejoh46/nubianingenue.com/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-plugins-list-table.php on line 25

    Mindful826,
How did you try to deactivate plugins? Use FTP/ hosting control panel and rename the plugins folder by adding -old. All plugins will be deactivated. You can update WordPress after that.

Krishna, I followed the directions and received the same error.

Also, after some looking, this did not deactivate my plugins. The folder is now named
    plugins-old

Try using phpMyAdmin to deactivate plugins if what I suggested above also gave the same error.

I have no idea what any of those instructions mean... at all.

Do I download this and install it via FTP? Where do I find the table they are talking about? I am so lost. I appreciate your help but to be honest: I seriously have no idea what language this is.

Okay, I was able to disable all plug-ins after many, many tutorials... I'm still getting the error.

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_safe_remote_get() in ... on line 500"

OK, that's fine. You are getting nearer. Now try to update WordPress - do not put back theme or plugin till you update - ignore warnings).

Hey Krishna, I don't get the option to ignore any warnings I simply get the same error message.

Can you login to your site?

Yes, I can - and on the dashboard it says to attempt the upgrade then I push the blue "udate" button and it says:

    "Downloading update from http://wordpress.org/wordpress-3.6-new-bundled.zip…"

    Then presents the error message.

I have had exactly the same problem as Mindful826 - I receive error messages and my site functionality is limited since attempting to update to the new wordpress. How do I update wordpress via FTP without losing any of my website files etc?

Also, once I update WordPress, will my site work as before?
