    Hi there,

So I purchased a theme on themeforest titled ‘Ettiquete’, a client really liked the layout and setup and I am stuck with it. I can’t change or the theme, she really likes the theme.

So I initially had the latest version of WordPress installed on the hosting account (my client’s hosting and domain are all on godaddy) and I installed the theme, everything worked fine until I noticed that I could not make posts, add slides or portfolio pieces. I noticed because when I pressed ‘add new’ for these post items, I would get a 505 error (see screenshot here) – I called godaddy, who after almost 3 hours on the phone managed to point out to me that the issue is coming from the theme, because if I de-activate or uninstall the theme, everything works fine with making posts. After trying to communicate with the developer of the theme (and not getting any useful feedback), I noticed that the theme was originally optimized for versions 3.0 and 3.1.

Because of this, I decided to downgrade and manually install WordPress 3.0 – so the current setup is under http://www.gabriellaarango.com/newweb/

After all this, I tried to add a new post / slide / portfolio piece – and I am STILL getting the same exact 505 error.

Has this kind of problem ever happened to anyone? I am getting very nervous because like I said, my client really likes this theme – to the point where almost all of the graphics have been created around this theme.

Could anyone be willing to help or re-examine this with me?

    I would greatly appreciate it.

    Regards,

    Marcus

  • Just a note, this is a 500 error and not a 505 error, which are quite different.

Usually 500 errors originate from some coding error that the server doesn’t allow for. What this may be is very hard to say. It sounds like some parts of the add new pages are customized and breaks under your server setup, but not having the theme, it is hard to say exactly what.

If there is any other way I can communicate with you, I would be happy to send you the theme files in an email, or show you my account setup – I really appreciate your response and your help.

Whoops! I’m sorry about the mis-reference of the error. This has been going on for way too long, I am beginning to make errors!

Does anyone know? Please? If this could be examined I would be willing to pay…
