I had the same thing using webmaster tools. In the end I submitted “index.php/sitemap_index.xml” and it worked.
but is there a way to fix the problem so i dont get a 404 eror when going to : http://restorationusa.com/sitemap_index.xml
? π
Hi Yoast,
the last plugin update has broken the sitemap functionality.
Calling http://subdomain.domain.com/sitemap_index.xml returns 404.
Can you please fix this? Your plugin rocks!
Check both your WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) settings under Settings > General. If they’re missing the www.
part at the beginning, add it.
Hassan, thanks for the pointer to this topic. My settings have both the the URL’s already set with “www” and my sitemap_index.xml still returns an error when submitted to google webmaster tools.
“We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.
Network unreachable: Network unreachable
Sitemap: http://www.hippressurecooking.com/sitemap_index.xml
HTTP Error: 500″
I would appreciate any more suggestions on what to try.
Thanks,
L
@pazzaglia1, I think it’s working now?
