Getting 404 Error For All Internal Links On Site (3 posts)

On March 10th 2008, my blog was working fine. On March 11th 2008, my server did some upgrades and since then, it has not functioned as before. Initially, it would not show anything and 24 hours later (on March 12th 2008), the site finally went back up. However, the present problems began:

When anyone clicks on a link that links to another page or post, a 404 error comes up. The main website (www.etenblog.com) works fine but when you click on any of the internal links, for example http://www.etenblog.com/about, there will bring a 404 error page up.

I have tried the renaming of config.php in wp-includes folder as mentioned here: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/138729?replies=13 but did not get a solution. The error is still there.

I have not made any changes since the last time my site worked (March 10th) so I am not sure what is the cause of it.

I could not find any solution and would appreciate any help I can get.

In the thread you linked to I couldn't find anything about "renaming the config file". There is not even such a file in the wp-includes folder!

Your problem seems to be permalinks. Try to reset them.

My apologies, I meant renaming cache.php which was what I did. Member, imagiscapeca, was the one who recommended the renaming method. His post started with 'WEIRD HALLELUJAH' and is located towards the end.

Surprisingly your method works. I tried it before but it did not work. Why did it work now?
