   I am having some trouble here. I want to limit the post to 300 words and have a '... read on' link. How do I specify the word count? How do I generate the link?

   With the title, I am trying to turn it into a URL. Again. How do I do this?

   you could use a word count plugin and the <!--readmore--> tag

   or you could use a limit post plugin which has a built in read more

   I'm not sure what you mean about the title being a url.
