Get for example the_author outside the loop

    Is there a way to call <?php the_author() ?> outside ,,the loop”?
    I want to make a sort of wp-profiles.php where you can see all the info about the author.
    I really like to do it neat, like with the normall wp_start()
    Is it possible?
