• Hi all, just had a (hopefully) simple theme and layout question.

We currently have a gaming blog that is updated almost daily with new posts and content. Our layout right now is a simple, 2-column one. We’re thinking of going through a redesign of the whole site and we’re looking to do one thing in particular that I have not been able to find in any theme so far.

The problem: We have eight contributors to the blog, and our posting frequency is totally different; some of us post new entries daily, some of us maybe three times a week and some of us just weekly. So the problem is the more frequent posters “pushing” other less frequent posters’ content down the main column and eventually into page 2/older entries.

We were thinking about a redesign with a 4×2 table or “grid”, in which each “square” would act as a particular contributor’s “column” so that whenever one contributor updates, it only pushes his/her own content out. The less-frequent posters would be unaffected, each in his/her own “square”.

We’re playing around with the Magadine theme (http://web.ygoy.com/2008/03/04/magadine-magazine-wordpress-theme/) and, visually, looks like what we’re trying to do, but it’s not quite there functionality-wise, since the “grid” is a common area for all posts, and content still gets pushed (only this time to the right and down, eventually out). The rest of the theme’s functionality is spot on for what we’re wanting.

Is there a way to do this, or a theme around I might have missed that does this? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    –J.
