• Hi There,

This is more of a general question about the Facebook Like button and how it works. I’ve noticed this with 2 different plugins so I think it’s a pretty universal issue.

When you have a Facebook Like button on your page/blogpost, when you click it, it gets grayed out and the number next to it increases by one. Then it shows on Facebook that so and so “likes” your page/post whatever. Cool.

But here’s the thing. Some of my like buttons on various blog posts have gone up over the course of a day, couple days, weeks, to 10, 20, 30 and more. Now I’m happy about that, but are people really hitting like? My first thought of course would be my friends who I’ve shared the page with on Facebook, but I’m not seeing any of those people show up in my feed as having “liked” that page/post. I go to people who I’m generally pretty sure might be ones that liked it, and it’s nowhere in their timelines/activity. Is it really all complete strangers? Not that that’s a bad thing, but I’d kind of like to have an idea that these are all genuinely people clicking the like button and not some kind of bug.

Thanks for your input, I can’t seem to find anything online about it after a lot of googling.
