   What the heck are "Gears" in the Tools tab of the dashboard? I clicked activate, it loaded something,(counted down 165/165 loaded) so now what?

   I just love the way people will try stuff having no idea what it will do. Hey, maybe this will wreck the whole project, I'll try it!

   From what I understand, it is meant to speed up the site for YOU only by downloading images and other content into your browser cache so that they don't need to be downloaded from the server every time you visit.
