Garland theme colours (not to do with the wheel) (5 posts)

I've noticed that there other posts relating to the colour picker not working in the Garland theme (self-hosted), and I've managed to solve that little dilema myself. The problem I'm having now seems to centre around the Save Custom Colors button, under Design | Color Customizer.

Clicking on Save Custom Colors seems to remove the pretty looking layers of varying colours and shading, and leaves me with a plain white inner column, and pale blue everywhere else. This happens whether I change the colours in the Color Customizer and save, or even if I do nothing at all and save.

An interesting note - clicking on Reset to Default Colors does just that, and brings the original colour scheme back. It's just applying the new colours (that were picked with no problems from the colour wheel) that is the problem.

Those who still get trouble with color picker bug, download Garland fixed version here:
    http://incoherentbabble.com/2008/02/03/fresh-garland-release/

After install, edit "garland/functions.php" and change "Presentation" to "Design", the color picker may work then.

That's the exact build that I'm already using, and I tried your suggestion before; unfortunately it didn't work.

The problem I'm getting is not to do with the colour wheel in particular, or in the saving of colours, that's all ok. The problem is applying those picked colours to the actual theme.

Instead of a pleasing-to-the-eye merge of colours, whenever I try to make any change at all to the colour scheme (even leaving the colours exactly as they are) all I get is a pale blue block of colour around the outside, and a white middle coloumn. No layers, no shading, just a mass block of pale blue.

Apologies if this does not belong here, but I'm not really sure where else to put it.

I think I can explain the problem in a bit more detail.

When the theme is first installed, or when the Reset to Default Colors button is pressed, the theme colours show fine.

Now the very bottom layer on the left, right, and upper sections is #EDF5FA - a very pale blue to my eyes. The Garland theme then adds on a 'base', 'link', 'top', 'bottom' and 'text' colour layer on top of that.

I'm no expert on php, but I've been rooting around in the functions, and if I follow garland_save_colors() it takes a snapshot of the colours, puts them in an array $colors and passes it into set_theme_mod(). This is where I get lost, as I don't see where it's going wrong. It must be going wrong somewhere though, as after pressing Save Custom Colors, all I can see on screen is the very bottom layer of #EDF5FA around the outside.

Have anyone found solution to this? I am facing the same problem.

I have the same theme uploaded to two of my blogs :

    http://tahuko.com/events/
    http://tahuko.com/

Surprisingly, it works for the http://tahuko.com/events/ blog - but the color scheme doesn't work for the http://tahuko.com/ blog - and it shows everything white..!! Even if I have the same settings on both of them..

Can anyone please help? I will really appreciate. I am not that expert in PHP and other IT related stuff, so please help me in solving this issue. I really like to keep this theme for my blog.

    Thank you in advance :)
