Easy FancyBox
[resolved] Gallery/Image Attachment with Easy FancyBox (5 posts)

I have searched and searched for a solution. I've found many examples of this problem, and many solutions. None are working for me. Let's try this from my vantage point:

I insert an image gallery. I link all images directly to the file, so that they will open in Easy FancyBox. The generated gallery still links the thumbnails to an attachment page. The FancyBox does not open. The attachment page opens.

I saw this in the Easy FancyBox FAQ:

Will a NextGen gallery be displayed in a FancyBox overlay ?
It can be. Switch OFF the FancyBox Auto-gallery feature, then set the NextGen option "JavaScript Thumbnail effect" to "Custom" and fill the code line field with

    class="fancybox" rel="%GALLERY_NAME%"

Where is this NextGen option "JavaScript Thumbnail Effect" with a field to enter code? Not seeing it.

    What I want to happen:

I like the way WP Gallery function generates a clean, orderly group of thumbnails. I would like each thumbnail to open its corresponding image file in the Easy FancyBox overlay.

    How do we achieve this?

Forgot to give a link to a page: http://theartofselfexile.com/the-boys-are-back-in-town/

If I was adept with code, perhaps I could override the attachment page function for images, however I am not. I'm using the Very Plain Text theme.

    Hi John,

First we need to clear up what seems to be a confusion: The NextGEN Gallery is provided by a plugin and something else than the normal WP Gallery.

If the normal WordPress gallery function serves you well (in most cases it does) than you just need to make sure that you select "Link to: File" when inserting the gallery code in your post.

And have Auto-detect for Images turned on in the plugins options on Settings > Media...

Actually, it was in the theme's code somewhere, unfortunately. I found another theme that works for me - actually a better design - and now the FancyBox is working as it should.

The veryplaintxt theme, as well as the others from the same designer, are very firmly coded to send viewers to an attachment page when an image is clicked, regardless of Fancybox plugins used, or image settings. I tried three different plugins, and none would produce milk. It was a bit frustrating, because plaintxt.org does great themes with a nice literary feel. They're just not set up for visual acrobatics. If I had the time or will to do more coding and less content, I'd work through a solution.

Oh yeah, that reminds me... I'll mark this topic as resolved.

Is plaintxt available for free download somewhere? I'd like to take a look, if possible...
