gallery with several categories/entry point ?

I don’t know if it’s possible to have a media gallery with several categories, where the generated gallery will be done by tags or special fields, with cross links

something like artwork,artist,style,year
and the possibility to switch to an other view for the same artist, style or year with a click.

I use file gallery, wpml and media tags and don’t know what will be the better approach for doing that.
