• Having problems that the Gallery Tab in the Image Uploader (from within a post) is not showing up.

Images are being correctly uploaded within posts. If a single image has been inserted & uploaded from within a post, the “Gallery” tab should be visible, with a number reflecting the number of ‘local’ images next to it.

    This is not happening.

And a related item seems that the media Library cannot display the particular photo as being linked to that page (or any other)… “Attached to” is blank.

    Any ideas?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Hi all. I have finally figured it out. The way to get your gallery tab to appear you first should name your post (this can be changed later if you want)next Click on the save draft button. Now when you go to select image files and then save them (do not insert into post at this time). You should now have a gallery tab at the top of the page. From this point you can either add more photos/edit photos or insert the entire gallery into your post. I make a point of clicking on the button labeled “save changes” often after every change I make.

I hope this helps everyone out. I know it drove me crazy for a long time.

    Hi all.

Tried everything mentioned above, but still am having the same problem…No gallery tab appearing! One weird thing I’m noticing is that if I upload an image using the flash uploader and the gallery tab doesn’t show up, I can switch to the browser uploader to upload a second image and then the gallery tab will magically appear showing both images included! This is also the case if the order is reversed: using browser uploader first and the tab doesn’t appear, but then will show up if I immediately switch to flash uploader to add more images. It’s like I need to switch things up to keep WordPress on its toes and get it into gear. Any ideas what’s up with this?

I’m still using WordPress 2.8.6. If I updated, would anything in the latest release help remedy this situation?

    I’m also having this problem.

After I upload a couple of images using the flash uploader, there is no gallery tab. Does anyone know why this is?

    I’m using WordPress 2.9.2.

If anyone knows a way round this, I’ll be very grateful, it’s driving me mad?!

    See my answer above.

Yeah, I’ve tried all that and it still persists.

    I’ve since found this.

But that fix doesn’t work for me, perhaps because it relates to WordPress 2.8.1 & I’m on 2.9.2?

This probably doesn’t apply in your case, but I was also going crazy trying to figure this out. Everyone was talking about gallery this and gallery that. I even saw Youtube videos showing people manipulating these galleries. And I never got a gallery tab anywhere. I had no idea what was going on.

However, then someone said that you had to save a post before it would work. I had been doing all my texting with new posts that I hadn’t saved or published. Once I saved and published a test post and then uploaded images to it, I suddenly got this gallery tab. So that solved part of they mystery for me.

I have to say though, that I still don’t understand the logic of how WordPress deals with images. It seems like it should be straightforward, but I get more confused the more I try to figure it out.

For example, I successfuly made a gallery in my test post and I had two images in that gallery which I had just uploaded from my computer. But for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to add MORE images to that gallery from my Media Library. It seems that you should be able to just select some files from your Media Library and add them to a Gallery. But I can’t see how to do that.

Also, I don’t quite understand how these galleries exist without names. Aren’t they like groups of pictures or albums of pictures? It makes sense that we should be able to name them and save them and then insert them into different posts.

However, none of these things that it feels natural to do, I can’t figure out how to do. And I can’t figure out if that means it can’t be done or I’m just going about it the wrong way. I’m hoping it will all become clear through trial and error. No matter how many Help sections I read, nothing makes much sense.
