I’m using the WordPress gallery for a gallery of about 25 images. The gallery page itself comes up fine, but when I click on an individual image in the gallery, the page showing that image appears with all the images in the media library below it, not just the ones in that gallery. I tried deleting and recreating the post, but the same thing happened.

    Gallery is at http://www.whetstone.wesley.edu/2013/04/22/leadership-awards-ceremony-3/ .

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I’ll try that. It didn’t occur to me to deactive the plugins, since my other image galleries all work fine. It’s just this one that’s a problem. I’ll try these suggestions.

How exactly did you create the galery?
Some pictures in the galery are linked to the image and some to a post (non-existing post).

    Could you try this:
*Go to :Posts-Add new- Add Media(button)- click on Create gallery
*Select images from media library (or upload new ones)
    *Click on “Create new gallery”
*In the Gallery setting (upper right corner) choose between Link to media file or Link to attachment page. Try both to fit your needs.

Thanks. I created the gallery by adding the post, clicking on create gallery, selecting the photos from the media library, then clicking create new gallery. I didn’t check the settings, since I never have before and the galleries always worked. I’ll recreate it and check the settings.

I turned off all the plugins. That didn’t solve the problem. Changed to the default theme and the gallery behaves so differently that I couldn’t tell if that was the problem. When I click on an image in the default theme, only that one image comes up, nothing from the rest of the gallery or from the media library.

I don’t see the Gallery setting option. All I have in the upper right is an X to close the box I’m choosing images from.

What exactly DID happen with the gallery images when you clicked on them (before this problem accured)? Did you use a lightbox of any kind?

My guess is that the issue in in your current theme’s image.php template file. What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?

This is what the gallery looks like when it works: http://www.whetstone.wesley.edu/2013/04/20/wishfest/ .

The theme is Advanced Newspaper, which we purchased from a company called Gabfire. Perhaps I need to post this question on their support site, if the theme is causing the problem.

That looks like a theme issue to me. And yes, as this is a commercial theme, you would need to post on Gabfire’s support site. We do not support commercial themes here.
