• The Gallery displays the images I choose however, when you click ‘return to entry’ it displays the WRONG image, it is NOT displaying the image that is actually set as the featured image. Then when you look at the instructions for this theme from the developer, a new tab does NOT open like he explains below, therefore these settings can not be done. Is this theme just trash? I’m starting to think so, it’s not that complicated however it just doesn’t function properly is extremely difficult to work with.

Here is the link to the site. http://pixelanthology.com/workspace103/blog/ If you click on the 2nd, 4th, 5th, or 6th Gallery image, then ‘return to entry’ you will see what I’m talking about.

This is what the developer says to do….

After all images are uploaded and processed (resized), click “Save all changes”. A new tab opens, where you will be asked to review the “Gallery Settings” and change them if needed. The first option – “Link thumbnails to:” deserves special attention:

Seems this theme got messed up all by itself. It was working fine when I first finished it, then I went back to it just recently and noticed it was all messed up. Should I rebuild the entire site from scratch? Will that fix the problem?

    Thanks

    Lisa

  • What are you trying to achieve?

    • Creating a post containing a gallery.
    • A blog home (or any archive page) just like the demo.

It seems you are mistaken one with the other.

The problem with “Return to entry” link is another separate issue. It’s how WP manages image attachment and how themes choose to use the kind of link in its attachment template.

The “how to” you refered to is also another issue, WP3.5 changed the media UI workflow and the new Gallery system (that I personally think is very confusing to use).

Let’s leave that 2 issues somewhere else and fix this more important problem first.

I’m under impression that what you are trying to do now is to create a placeholder page (archive) for your posts. If that’s so, do this.

    Visit this link
    http://pixelanthology.com/workspace103/category/uncategorized/

and you will see that WP already created the (category) archive page for you, and theme displays this page as it’s designed to. All you have to do is mark your posts with a category (or tag if you will) and make a link to it in the menu.

The category archive link is in this form
    http://example.com/category/food

The tag archive link is in this form
    http://example.com/tag/green
