Gah! Typoed my username when registering... (3 posts)

In a flash of brilliance when registering for these forums (to fix a bad code example in the Codex), I managed to typo my own name and failed to catch it before submitting.

I've read the policy on deleting accounts and changing usernames. Unfortunately, the suggestion to simply create a new account is unreasonable, as you can only register one account per email address (and that, at least, I typed correctly).

I've even changed the email address for this account and still get an "Email already exists" error when trying to create a new account with my preferred email address.

I've tagged this thread with "modlook" to get their attention, but if anyone else has any useful suggestions, they're welcome.

    Thanks,
    Ryan Lange -.-

Ah. Found a solution. Instead of trying to create the new account with the same email address, you can add a "tag" to a Gmail address using a plus (+) sign.

So, the registration system here sees example@gmail.com and example+wp-forums@gmail.com as different addresses, but Gmail will handle emails to the latter address as if they were sent to the former.

The only downside I've noticed so far is that Gravatar also sees them as different addresses.

You can add more than one email to a single Gravatar.
