   I was posting content all day and creating a new post when I opened up a google search page that froze explorer.

   I closed all of my tabs through the Task Manager, and when I went back to the site, the entire front page now has articles from October.

   I'm unsure how to correct this, as I'm not even sure what happened. I can't get in touch with the site owner or our IT guy, so I'm hoping someone here could offer some assistance?

   Of course, we're a news site, so this looks terrible for us to have ancient news on the front page! Thanks for the help... I'll be lurking here.

   im missing the problem -- if thats the most current PUBLISHED content than thats whats going to be seen on the front page.

   and you dont say whether or not thats the case.

   if its not, where is the most current content? have you logged in and checked to see if those posts were published? if theyre drafts they wont be seen anywhere UNTIL theyre published.

   a little legwork on your part would be nice.

   LOL

   I thought it was obvious that October is not the most current published content. Several are posted per day, and now the most current is from October 17, so more than a month's worth of published posts have disappeared.

   The reason I'm starting this is to FIND where the current content has gone?

   I also had posted links to articles on a different forum earlier this week, and when I checked them, they still take me to the site, but it says that nothing was found.

   and Im going to suggest again that you look in your admin area and verify that those posts are 1. there and 2. published.

   If they were "there", why would I need to find them?

   I'm pretty familiar with the painfully basic difference between a "draft" and "publishing" a post.

   If I was not clear enough for you earlier, the posts that were published on the first few pages of the website for over a month have now vanished into thin air.

   So, AGAIN, I listened to your suggestion, both times, but it has nothing to do with the problem or its solution. So, thanks, but I'm holding out for a different option.

   ok, well heres the deal -- if you dont see those missing posts in your wp-admin area, then you are left with checking inside your database.

   are they there?

   the posts that were published on the first few pages of the website for over a month have now vanished into thin air. <-- so those posts aren't in admin nor the database? If not, then all you'll need to do is restore your database. You had a backup... right?

   I am not familiar with checking the "database".

   I log in as admin and use the function buttons on the left, none of which show the missing posts. Please advise if there is a different area I should be looking and how to find it.

   In admin, under posts/edit... are the missing posts there?

    ^Nope. That's where I'm familiar with finding them.

    They seem to have somehow been zapped from the system?

    What you describe happening before the posts came up missing shouldn't have anything to do with with WordPress but if they're gone, they're gone, and as I said, just restore your database and all will be well :o)

    I'm a bit of an idiot and I fear responsibility, so I'll sic the IT guy on that.

    It sounds like an easy fix though? I appreciate the help- have a good evening.
