Support » Plugins » future blog

  • (apparently the other post didn’t get through. oh well…)
I’m trying to do a fictional blog, where events take place a few years later from now. What I would like to achieve is to display fictional timestamps for 1) entries, 2) the corresponding comments, and even a future calander. Pingbacks/Trackbacks/feeds will be disabled and is not a concern. For example, one would post/comment on 2004/8/27 (actual time) and the date would be shown as 2024/8/27 (fictional time) instead.
I do not have server access to adjust the server time (nor would I chose to do so), and posts here indicate that it would be an easy hack to alter the displayed time. http://wordpress.org/support/3/2518 seems to be a sollution, but it doesn’t seem to work for me. Sorry, that should read I don’t know how to make it work for me (I tried!). I would very aprreciate a tutorial for dummies. Thanks!

  • jodeci,
I’m wondering if you might just use a custom field (Advanced Options on the Write panel) and create the fields necessary for your story dates. Then, just don’t use the template tags for the actual dates, but subsitute your custom tags for them instead.
Any of you hackers out there think this is workable, or is there a better, easier way?
