• ORIGINAL MESSAGE AND RESPONSE BELOW:
I have the code that used to be in the function.php file of my website but I’m unable to get to the appearance editor – even that link is a white page. The only function I can access in my dashboard is appearance>widgets. How can I get to where I can replace the code?

    Thanks! Jennifer

Changed the function.php code, hoping to add a customizable header, and now my entire site is white except when I’m here: http://www.gilesfamilytherapy.com/wp-admin/widgets.php We use godaddy too. Is it possible that this is a godaddy issue? Looks like we’re having the same problem at the same time.

    Jennifer,

In the future, please start a new post as your issue really isn’t the same as James’s. That said, this is definitely not a GoDaddy issue in either case. The issue is that you edited the function.php code incorrectly. Find a backup of the file and re-upload it. If you don’t have a backup, simply re-download WordPress and find the file in the download and re-upload that single file to the appropriate place.

  • Has this been resolved? FTP is the solution. Do you know what FTP is? Replacing the old functions.php with a brand spanking new copy is the best course of action. This can be accomplished via FTP.

I’m sorry I am so un-educated about wordpress and using code for websites. Can you walk me through how to do this?

Can someone provide me with direction on this issue?

    1. Download a fresh copy of wordpress 3.2.1
    2. Log into GoDaddys control panel, and navigate to their online file manager.
    3. Go to your /wp-includes directory and re-upload the functions.php file from your computer… overwriting the original.
