• Just an idea, could a new search be added to the codex which allows you to search for the function.

i.e if you want to know the arguments for wp_list_pages you’d just search the function and find it,

Right now I find Codex a nightmare for finding simple things about functions, I search for a function typing in it’s full name and the result I actually want is on the 4th page of results! The same applies for this forum search.

    Thanks for reading this,
    Stephen

The Template Tags page may be slightly outdated, but the organization is great and I find it easy to navigate with my browser’s “Find” tool. Just load the page, bring up your Find tool, and look for “wp_list_pages”.

The best way of searching the Codex at the moment is probably to Google for WordPress Codex + your search term, or a site specific search for your term.

The big problem with the templates tag page is that it’s so difficult to find!

I’ve now bookmarked it but previously searching for it only showed up useless pages.

I usually do something like this:

    site:codex.wordpress.org function name

Which currently works in Bing, Google, and Yahoo (and might possible work in other search engines as well.)

    So for example:

    site:codex.wordpress.org wp_list_pages

Also I don’t know if you have found the Function Reference in the Codex yet?
