• On my site I want to add a section just below Navigation and above-content (from where posts starts to show up on front page) which would show a panel where I can put any BREAKING NEWS (not always, whenever I want) with its excerpt and image. That panel should stretch with max-width.

    I want to pull that BREAKING NEWS from a specific category say – category_breaking.

    Is it possible? If yes, then how?

    Thanks for the help.

    I want to achieve exactly like this – (http://i.imgur.com/4D9kE.png)

  • what theme are you working with?

    can you post a link to your site to illustrate what you have so far?

    Right Now I have not implemented it on my site, I was trying to achieve that on my local installation. my main site is http://www.udaipurtimes.com
    using News Theme.

    You’re using genesis as your parent theme, so is this your child theme? http://www.studiopress.com/themes/news

    It looks like you’re actually making your own theme, but as it’s built off Genisis, you should ask this at studiopress.

    You are right Ipstenu – thats genesis. But anyways, I found the solution (in studiopress forum and stackexchange) as either using a sidebar technique or else calling custom query to fetch post based on category. I hope that helps someone else, who is looking for same such solution. 🙂
