    I have altered the color of the twenty twelve theme (in a child) by placing:

    /* Change menubar color */
    .nav-menu{
    background-color:#F8F8F8  ;
    }

    in the style.css. Now it looks silly as it doesn't extend to the edges of the main page. How can I make the menu bar extend to the edges?

    Unless you provide a link to a page demonstrating the problem, no one will be able to offer much in the way of assistance.

    Sorry first time poster: http://gsewebwp.gse.buffalo.edu/org/clari/index.php/

    But I am building it on a server and not sure if others can view it yet.

    Try adding this to your CSS:

    .main-navigation {
        margin: 1.71429rem -2.85714rem 0;
    }

    .nav-menu {
        padding-left: 5em;
    }

    @WPyogi

    That worked perfectly. I am new to this forum so I don't know how to close a thread but thank you for your time.

    You're welcome - you can just mark it resolved - many don't get marked so it's not that big a deal - see the right side of this page. I'll go ahead and do this one for you :)!
