   1. I added an FTP user account
   2. The WP-login screen disappeared, showing only a blank page
   3. Had to restore back up to login.

   How is that possible? What did that happen? What is the recommended FTP.

   I use Webmin to setup accounts (users, DNS, file sharing etc.) which is a web-based tool for system administration—Linux. I remote into the Linux Server using either IE or FireFox and setup a ftp account from the Webmin console. This is the standard procedure for setting up accounts using Webmin.

   Do you have any thoughts as to how this is possible?

   I can't see how setting up an FTP account would impact on your WP install - unless you somehow replicated a sub-directory name.
