    Guys,

I'm having some trouble to upgrade my plugins. Using the "update automatically" function, I put in my FTP details but always get the same error messae: "could not connect to FTP site".

    I'm using the following syntax:

    Hostname: http://ftp.mywebsite.com

User and Password verified. I've also tried ftp://ftp.mywebsite.com, I've also tried http://ftp.mywebsite.com:21 and ftp://ftp.mywebsite.com:21 - they all result in the same error message.

    Can anyone help?

The FTP credentials should be the same as you enter into your FTP program when you connect to the server yourself. Example:

    Host: mywebsite.com
    User: myusername
    Pass: mypassword

What FTP program do you use when you manually update files on your server?

I'm having the same issue as versluis with a site hosted on a MediaTemple Dedicated Virtual Server. I can ftp fine via Fetch or Coda but WP 2.7 fails every time no matter what syntax I use for the hostname. I'm wondering if it has something to do with my DV service. MediaTemple is listed in the codex as a WP automatic upgrade supported host. I wonder if it was tested with MT's Grid Service only or with MT's Dedicated Virtual service as well.

@ versluis - what's your hosting provider / set up?

My hosting provider is http://www.easyspace.com - like yourselves, emhr, I can connect fine via Filezilla and AceFTP.

I've just tried the WP Automatic Upgrade plugin, which also asks for my sevrer details, and it doesn't work either.

kpdesign, I've tried your syntax exactly as you describe (leaving out the "www." this time - no luck.
