when I began my "5 minute" installation THIS MORNING, my ftp client showed the default folders needed to install wordpress files to the root directory. However, i messed something up and deleted these folders. Now the file directory is completely empty so I cannot move the wordpress files to the "root" folder and finish my installation to my domain name. How do I get them back? I am able to successfully connect to my ftp client, but I need to propagate those folders again? So far I hate word press and their piss poor directions. However, I want to see this through! Thanks in advance.

Gee - how to win friends and influence people! You messed up. You deleted all of the folders. Yet you blame WordPress?

See the big red download button at the top of the page? Download WordPress again.

I have the wordpress folders... it's the "default" (for a lack of better understanding on my part) files that were in my ftp client when I downloaded it (filezilla). I uninstalled and reinstalled filezilla and even a few other ftp clients, and no luck -- still don't have the default ftp folders that I need to put the word press files in.

Then it's not a WordPress issue. If you've removed folders on your remote server, contact your hosts for support.
