Front page (static page) is blank with no Source Code

    Actually I’m running WP version 2.9.2.

    When I visit my website http://www.sparkcon.com the homepage loads completely blank, with no Source code. All other pages of the website work fine ex. http://www.sparkcon.com/musicSPARK

    This is what I have checked:

    • I changed my theme back to the WP default theme by Michael Heilemann, and The same thing happens. Homepage is blank, other pages work.
    • I have tried to deactivate all of my plugins, and the same thing happens. Homepage is blank, other pages work.
    • All of my widgets work properly throughout the site, so I’ve concluded that the functions.php file is fine
    • The problem appears to have some correlation with Front page displays static page. ex. The front page (http://www.sparkcon.com) is set to “home” and that page loads blank. but if you go to the link http://www.sparkcon.com/home the page loads fine.

    Any advice on what other avenues to check on would be very helpful!

    Does your theme folder contain a home.php file? If so, rename this file to home-old.php.

    Nope 🙁

    the “home” page template is in a file called main.php. If I change the template file for that “home” page to the default page template the same error happens.

    Would you recommend re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?

    Try renaming main.php to homepage.php.

    Is there anything special about the content on your home page? Could you make a copy of the current content and then replace that content with some placeholder text – eg:

    Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Sed mauris. Aenean congue, nisl nec pulvinar hendrerit, urna lectus hendrerit ligula, nec lobortis wisi lorem a ligula. In blandit, leo at hendrerit eleifend, odio odio feugiat augue, ac viverra felis sapien id eros. Quisque neque. Nullam eget erat. Curabitur lobortis vulputate velit. Phasellus vitae nibh in orci luctus dapibus.

    There is a plugin on that page that I have determined is not the issue.

    Since the page shows up when you view it at it’s full url
    http://www.sparkcon.com/home
    I think that the issue must have something to do with the action of calling a page as the front page.

    Under the reading settings in the back-end if I change the front page displays to “Your latest posts” the homepage http://www.sparkcon.com still loads as blank

    Maybe the issues is in the .htaccess file? if it makes since that that could be the issue, what should that file say?

    I discovered my issue. The problem was that someone else who had access to my server accidently moved an empty index.html file to the www folder.

    After deleting that, all is back and well in the world of SPARKcon.
