I guess the logic of how to have a static page goes like this.

Settings reading, you put "Front page displays" = "A static page (select below)"

and then you declare an empty page to be the posts page on "Posts page:"

I understood that wordpress is creating a menu item for this empty page and just lists all the posts (as they used to be displayed on the front page), in this empty one. And you can access it from the menu item.

But no menu item is created.

I ran Mamp on Mac Os X and have wordpress 3.2.1 installed.

I do not know if there is another posts with the same topic already, but as soon as there is no "search" feature in the official WordPress Forum i guess it is ok to start another one.

Create a page for your blog posts and give it a name first, then assign that page in the settings by selecting its name from the drop-down list. Creating the new page first puts a new entry in your page menu.

The search function is working. http://wordpress.org/support/

Left hand column where it says:

    Search the Support Forums

Enter a few words that describe the problem you’re having.

..enter some keywords and hit the search button.

...or there is another search box located at the top of every page (such as this one). Top right. You'll get used to it. :-)

:O... I am blind... After 20 hours trying to fix this...

But the procedure is not working for me...

    create a page

go to settings and choose a static page for home

choose the new empty page for posts page.

    still no menu item...

Thank you for the answer anyway.

PS. It is the Gantry theme that i am using... Is this the cause for the posts page not showing at the menu?

Did you create a Home page for you front page and select that page as static page if yes then what theme are you using as there may be something in header.php that is stopping from your pages to show in menu.

Gentry. Final i manually put from appearance menus the Frontpage: HOME as menu item and the empty News page as posts page and it worked.

But I thought wordpress will create these two menu items automatically.

Anyway, the important thing is for the empty posts page to be filled by wordpress and that functions...
