Front Page does not display side sections

    Hello,
    I have seen a similar post but it was closed with out any resolutions noted.
    I am hosting a website with HostGator and used Fantastico to install WordPress. My main page only displays the latest post with out any section to the right (archive, link and etc) Also I can create pages but they do not appear on the home either

    I am knew to wordpress but as I am learning it any assistance would be greatly appreciated
