    Hi everyone.

currently I have a WordPress installation with hostgator. I used cpanel originally to do an automatic install.

I'm going to redevelop my website and as such I want to start from a blank slate while keeping all my registered users.

what would be the best way to achieve this? can I just delete the WordPress folder and reinstall from the cpanel or will this also wipe out the database (which holds the users)

thanks for any help you can provide.

Start by taking a backup of your database.

What I would try - after taking a backup - is using a plugin do do that for you. F.e. a specific backup plugin and that allows you to backup specific parts of your database. In your case the registered users.

There are probably simpler ways of doing it.

As a note: by redeveloping your site, do you mean a new theme (in which case you don't need to make a new database) of do you really wanna start of with a new database (in which case simply deleting the folder but not the database won't do).

I want to do a total wipe of everything. WordPress installation and whatever database it uses.

Then do a totally fresh install and then re import all the user account.

Maybe its just easier to ask everyone to re-register?

    Easier for you yes.
I'd try and import the users from the old to the new DB.
    Expect complications though.
