Fresh Install Question

    Hey Guy’s and Gals,
    I am new to WordPress so let me start by explaining the problem. I just took over my Church’s site and it has some serious issues. I would like to install a fresh copy of wordPress in the directory, fix everything, upgrade everything, and make where everyone’s happy without affecting the user’s (not necessarily in this order).

    #1 – Is this possible?
    #2 – If so, where do I start, i.e. Manuals, How-To’s, etc..

    In which “the directory”?
    You can install WP anywhere you want: in the root, in a subdir, in a subdomain…

    Did you try scrolling up on this page and clicking the DOCS link?

    Yes it is possible. Just Follow these steps

    Disable all plugins
    Create a backup of the WP Database
    Upgrade WordPress ( Delete Old WP if you want to)
    Install Fresh copy of WordPress if you deleted the old WP
    Insert the Backup database the New Fresh copy of WordPress

    All the steps will upgrade everything and still keep all user data and posts from the old WordPress

    Like said before just follow the Docs and you should be fine

    But none the less very easy
