Fresh Install - Login page to admin only refreshes, can't log in (3 posts)

Have a fresh install on Windows XP SP2 running IIS 5.1
Tried both WP 2.3 and 2.2.3, all times I have dropped the MySQL database and created a new one.

Main page of blog loads fine, admin login page loads fine. It takes user admin and generated password, and only refreshes the login page.

I've cleared cookies and temp files on 2 PCs, no luck. Mutiple fresh installs gets me no where.

My site is hosted here at home, with a GoDaddy domain, pointing to a DYNDns address with port 8000 to bypass Charter's port 80 blocking.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I am not IIS compliant. ;) (Warning.) HOwever, IIS and Windows servers are NOTORIOUS for permissions problems. You might check and make sure that the wp-admin folder has the right permissions. That's all the help I can give. Sorry if it doesn't help.

I am having the same problem - Did you find a solution?

WP blog page displays OK, login page displays OK, but when I attempt to log-in with admin, the login screen refreshes but otherwise nothing seems to happen. However, when I look in the DB, it "looks" like the password is somehow being reset by something because it is different from the MD5 value that had previously been there.

I have event reset the admin password in mySQL with a newly generated MD5 password. After I update the password in mySQL, I check to see that it "took". Then I try to log in again. I just get the login screen refreshed (and no error messages). But when I check the password in mySQL again, it is a different from what it was the last time even though I didn't reset it.
