   Is there a wordpress version specific for freebsd and if there is one how do I go about installing it on a freebsd server?

   I do have root access and can install it myself.

   You can use the same WordPress package on all 'Nix platforms. There is a .tar.gz package in the downloads section, right below the link to the .zip package.
