Hey guys I just created a free wordpress theme called "plain white". As the name describes the theme is very minimal and clean allowing it to be used for a wide variety of blogs. The markup for the theme is very light so it can easily be customized, it may be a good place to start if your looking to build your first wordpress theme.
You can download the theme at my blog. I plain on making it available for download via wordpress directly but figured I would release here first so as to iron out any bugs that may arise.

I like it! Just like you said, it has a bunch of potential of being modified, which makes it intriguing to download :)
Even if you didn't want to modify it that much, it would be really nice just to keep it as it is, plain and simple looking blog never hurt anyone either :)

n order to be added to the WordPress theme directory, licensing must be GPL compatible

I am new to wordpress themes. The one I am testing has no install instructions.
Your theme has any?
Each theme has its own install FAQ or help?

lsuedulive - most themes install pretty much the same as Ipstenu explained in his answer to your question here:

@Isuedulive nothing special regarding installing the theme. Just upload it to the correct directory and enable it :)
@mercime I can change the license
