I have been using a test site where I had four widgets at the bottom of the home page. Each one had a photograph and a heading.

I have now transferred the whole site to the real domain name. But the four widgets at the bottom have not re-appeared.

I have tried adding four new widgets at the bottom, but there doesn’t appear to be one that matched the one I had before !

I recall last time there was a widget where the actual image displayed and it had space for the title text and a link.

I have gone through all the selection of widgets available but can’t find the one that is missing.

    Am I missing something obvious?

It sounds like something was missed somewhere with your transfering of the site. The widgets will have been stored in the test site’s database, so if you moved the site “content” only as an import, this will be the issue. With the export/import tools in the WP admin, these only bring over the content like posts, pages, and comments, menus too, although you have to re-assign the menus to the location. Widgets will never be transferred and often need to be re-assigned or redone. Did you follow this? http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

    Hiya,

Thank you for your reply. In the end I realised I might need another plug in widget to add to the widget! So as you suspected I had other plug-ins that I had not copied over.

Silly me! But thanks again for your speedy reply!

    Kind regards.
