The search box on the forums now uses Google instead of the built-in search. The downside is it isn't going to be up-to-the-second with the latest stuff anymore. The good news is that Google seems to index the forums several times a day and the search also covers the wiki and the Codex and any other subdomains of wordpress.org. Enjoy!

Call me crazy, but I don't like this new search..it feels disconcerting being taken out of WP's interface...

Annoying. Why replace the built-in search functionality with google, which everybody can use already? With the old native search functionality, I could get two different answers to searches: one from google and one from the forum search.

I'll see if we can use a Google or Yahoo Search API to maybe show the results in a pretty WordPress wrapper.

At this time ok it is working straight I only used one search term and the results I get are all pointing to The WordPress site.

But IMHO you are taking a great risk.

Google is more and more taking over as far as I am concerned even hijacking websites.

I think you should be very carefull with Google.

Offcourse it is a great search engine, but the problem with Google is sometimes they give really unrelated search results.

I think for the best it is still a good choice to keep also the search engine from within WordPress as a choice for users from this excelent and simple website.

Untill now all results I got before you changed it to Google where very satisfying.

So maybe its a good idea to keep a sharp eye on this new change.

Finding a users profile page is trickier this way - though admittedly I don't use that search a lot.

It looks like the search is now using yahoo.

The new search is fabulous. It would just be nice to have the old one as well, as it was specific to the structure of this forum.
