I'm giving it a test.... On one of the fora I run, I'm to the point that phpBB is overkill, so yours would seem ideal in that situation.

It's displaying quite nicely in both Classic and one of my own two column/left nav themes, but totally borked in my 3 column or 4 column themes. Have to play with that! Thanks for this, and if you could answer my question above about security?

Um. And I seem to be a complete idiot today.... HOW does one actually post? What simple thing am I missing?

Would it be possible to add in the ability to create either forums, or groups, that are accessible based on WP access-levels?

This way you could, say, have a buncha forums that the general public can access and then some other ones that level 4 authors can only see and access, etc...

    Know what I mean?

it would be possible yes, but wp is changing its auth scheme a bit for 1.6 and i need to look into it a bit more before i commit to any features like that. if it looks like its a possibility that i can write it to work in both 1.5 and 1.6 and have the permissioning then i probably will. otherwise i may not. maybe soon....

oops, I am sooooooo sorry...I answered it. DOH, make a topic...lol

    Great release... Keep me updated.

PS Sidebar issues.. I thought I read it somewhere..I cannot find it now.

I am thinking of putting a horizantal menu underneath anyways, so it's not really going to affect me, but others may ask.

    Hello
Can anyone tell me how to implement the forum and the tags (exactly the same way) that the WordPress site Support does?
    thanks

  8. This support forum is powered by BBPress. As far as I know, tagging is a standard feature. For BBPress support, please ask the BBPress Mailing List.

I hope XD forum will support Private messages between registered users and the admin. I hope we can change the "flag" image next to the topics. Lastly a Sticky function that makes the newest topic on the top would be awesome if its not already there.

    Thanks for the awesome work.

When will the Avatar feature be released? And then the edit/delete function for the poster?

One more thing, how do you make two posts have different backround (like this forum, light and darker backrounds to make it easier to see the difference between answers).

Sorry for beeing hasty, I have an act for that..

all that will be in the next official release, except for the avater feature. it MAY be depending on if i am able to do it in time or not. also, i have added post templating so that you can make the posts look any which way you want, and fit perfectly into your theme. i am GOING to add xdforum css so that you can completely separate it as well if you like. anyway, check my site: http://www.xdweb.net for quicker replies/news...

    Xavic: sounds great!

JoeyE: that is incredible - very nice work!
How did you make the Avatar function work?

    Yes, it is wonderful.

Also, I visited your blog and got enamored with it.
There is a rare piece of artistic beauty!

ip007: At the moment, I have to do this manually by going into the db and setting the avatar filename. However, I am working on a hack to use Gravatars. I have already added a field in the wp profile to add your gravatar url. I am close.. check http://www.xdweb.net for updates. I usually will post there with any hacks/mods. I have a mod already where the last few posts are listed either in the dashboard sidebar or even in the main page sidebar. XDForum is shaping up to be an already excellent choice for your forum needs. The updates sound awesome! Another mod that I am working on, (because i need this feature), is adding rss links to each thread so users can subscribe to the thread. In due time...

Kassad: Thank you for your comment. The site is fairly new so I am hoping that more of our students will post their student galleries. It will look quite nice when more post their stuff. I am working on the next design of VisCom Creatives. That should be coming in January some time. :)

I think this forum is better than the BBPress. But when will you add the Tag support? I donot see it now.

I think all this and more will be coming out with upcoming releases. kris has allot of projects going on so any update is a huge step forward for a true WP forum. :)

XDForum looks really good! I just love the ease of installation & administration!

An "unofficial, non-binding roadmap" (or something like that) would be good to understand, though. I'm interested in the same feature jark mentioned earlier, "forums with different access levels". Keeping thumbs up that xavic/kris finds time and energy for that...

Another topic: has someone seen a piece of code which would show five latest (XD)forum topics in the blog sidebar? I'd find that very useful.

I posted this bit of code here, among a few other modifications to xdf:

    Hope this helps.

Hello, sorry i'm very new to wordpress in general and I couldn't find exactly how to integrate this XDforum onto a page. I found the code to the forum inside my Presentation/Template Editor and then I go into my "Forum" page and paste the php code in there, but the output is just php code! Any help appreciated

I just realized that if you install it using the standard WordPress theme, everything's smooth but my problem is that I had the Blix theme on and therefore the forum doesn't even show up in this theme.

Hi, I love XDForum, for real,

but I have a problem with my theme.

    I'm using 3k2 , a modified version of K2
    http://aydin.net/blog/2006/03/23/three-column-k2-theme-for-wordpress-3k2/

The problem is that also after follow the info to copy the page.php of wp into XDpage,
the sidebar appear after the forum and not in the right, with the forum.

I can stay also without the left bar, but the " right sidebar " still remain after the forum, and this look no good.

Anyone can sugggest me something to do it ?

btw, great excellent work, dude... it's impressive. I admire you.
