    Hello,

We have an online support forum for families touched by Autism. Recently, we hired a company to develop an ecommerce site around our forum. The new site is not ready yet and is still under development. I only mention this because the new site is built on the same platform (WP) and of recent we have had a LOT of new users that have registered. It is obvious that many of these users are spam based on the user names and email addresses. My concern is that when I went to the forum recently after installing Avast Anti Virus software, I was warned the following:

avast! blocked you from visiting an infected webpage
    Infection Details
    URL: http://t32.edu.tf/2move.php
    Process: file://F:\Program Files\Internet Explore...
    Infection: js:Downloader-gen@bhv [Expl]

Although none of the new users have posted anything, is there a way that they could have placed a virus on the site?

Is there a way to limit the amount of new Spam users that we get?

Any help whatsoever would be a greatly appreciated!

Please let me know if you need the URL to the site.

    Thank you!

URL to your site in question would be helpful.

It is hard to say exactly how the malware/virus ended up on your site, could be due to a plugin you had installed that had a vulnerability, an outdated version of WordPress or a theme that had a vulnerability.

The hosting server your website is on could have also been hacked and the file placed on your website. Lots of different variables as you can see could have attributed to your current situation.

You're running an outdated version of WordPress which is probably how you ended up being hacked. You need to upgrade to the current release which is 3.2.1 and then most likely hire somebody to clean up your site unless you have the knowledge to do so yourself.
