• This is my first post to the support forums, so I hope this is in the correct place. If this is not the case, if you could please redirect me to the appropriate sub-category it would be much appreciated.

So here’s the story, I’m interning for my university’s department of public safety and they want to create a page that would allow students to register their property (bikes, laptops,iPods, etc…) with them so if they lose the item or the item is stolen it will have a way of finding itself back to the owner. I know a little html and php and have created a form that can take in their data and insert it into a mysql database for record keeping.

My question is can this be done with wordpress? I have made forms on pages i have created but i am unsure how to then send that data to the desired database. I have a feeling I would add a .php file to a certain directory but again, i know not where.

I know there are plugins i can use to make forms but they don’t really offer the functionality of sending it to a different database.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Untill i hear back from anyone i will continue my search.
