For some reason I don’t seem to be able to see the formatting of my posts when I follow links via the category navigation bar.

I have installed the “WP No category Base plugin” which removes the “category” from the url structure. (not sure if this is relevant because I was having this problem before I installed this plugin))

To explain, I have one category called Maths. When I put in a post with the title “algebra post” and allocate it to the Maths category:

    – If I click on the Preview Post button it goes http://www.mysite.com/algebra post and the formatting is perfect.

    – However, if I go to the homepage and follow the links to the Maths Page, the formatting disappears and just the unformatted text appears.

I have tried this via the WYSIWYG and HTML editor with no luck

    Anyone have this problem before?

  • Could you post a link to your site?

http://www.conceptladder.com/algebra – which is in bold (as it should be!) – note there is no way to link to this (it has to be typed in to get to this page since algebra is the name of teh post that i have given

http://www.conceptladder.com/maths – no formatting! – this is the way you would get to by clicking on “Maths” on the nav bar.

    Thx

I am a complete newbie so I dont really understand what they are talking about in the link you have sent me (I dont want to mess around with the coding if i can help it)

I just dont get why the same thing appears differently depending on how I get there. I have discovered that you can actually link to the “correct format” page by clicking on Maths on the toolbar and then on algebra below it –

But that is obviously not a fix

In the menu management screen (appearance > menus), click on screen options at the top right, and select posts. Then, you can add your posts (the algebra page) to the menu displaying on that page.

No – I dont want algebra to be a menu item.

    My problem is this:

If you go on the homepage and click on Maths, there is a post titled algebra where the content “this should be in bold” is NOT in bold. However, if you click on “algebra” – the title of the post – then the “this should be in bold” is actually BOLD.

Why does this happen? They should be in BOLD in both instances, should they not?

It looks like those two pages are using different templates, which would explain why the Algebra page has <p><strong>this should be in bold</strong></p> elements, while Maths has <p>this should be in bold</p>.

i think you are right! – any idea how I make them all the same template?

SOrted – I changed the theme from 2010 to 2011!!

As you said it was the way that the original theme choose the template.

Thanks a lot – much appreciated.
