Formatting short tags

Hello,

I have a blog I am currently migrating form wordpress.com to a private server. The posts that I have imported have a number of short tags for rendering inline youtube videos.

Is there a way to access these short tags without having to write a function that runs regex across the body of the post? Can I access content that is liked to with short tags programatically?
