formatting a page

I am trying to include images on a page and get text aligned to where I want it. The image is deeper than the text that goes next to it. Another line of text should go with the next image. However I cannot het the text aligned with the images as I want it. I have tried adding line breaks with the Editor page, tried inserting
and enclosing each image and text portion in <span> tags, but still my page comes out like this.

How can I get the images spaced underneath each other with the correct portion of text with each image?
