    I have been setting up the 2010 theme and have a white boarder around the text area on the home page I wish to make black. Any help would be appreciated. the site is here http://www.widmermi.com

    Don't edit the Twenty Ten theme. Instead create a child theme for your customisations. Once your child theme is active, we should be able to help with the customisation.

    I have already modified the style.css, if I can just get rid of that white boarder i will be good. I alos don't want to have a comment box on my home page. Can you help with that too? Thank you for responding btw

    be aware that modifications might be overwritten with the next upgrade of your wordpress version.

    the white 'border' is the background color of #wrapper;

    #wrapper {
    	background: #fff;
    	margin-top: 20px;
    	padding: 0 20px;
    }

    assuming the home page is a static page, comments can be disabled for individual pages from dashboard -> pages: quick-edit link below the page name
