Force a 'More' tag (10 posts)

The site I'm working on is mainly set up as 'post to page' and I need to get one or two pages to force a 'more' tag into the posts so that I don't get a list of posts a mile long.
I can fumble my way through simple code sometimes so some fixes I might have found go straight over my head - is there a way an extreme novice can make this work?

But what's the loop, and where do I find it for the page I want to use it?

    what's the loop

    See The_Loop_in_Action.

where do I find it for the page I want to use it?

Your theme's page.php template file controls your static pages. If you only want this on 1 or 2 pages, you could either create a custom page template & apply it to those Pages. Or you could add the extra code inside an is_page('Foo') conditional.

Sorry for not replying, just managed to get back to it. I'm giving it a try today. Fingers crossed…

Nope, still lost. How does the is_page know what it is I want it to do?
