    I'm a firsttime WordPress user !

    I installed 202
    - the first time I installed, I didn't receive the 2nd part of the table-creation screen (the one with the password). Removed the tables and re-installed, so far good this time
    - when I try to login with the given admin+password, I get an error message " Forbidden : You don't have permission to access /wordpress/wp-admin/ on this server"

Any ideas what might be happening ?

    Thanks

Seems to be a difficult problem.
Are there any other support-forums for WP around ?

I can't give any more information than what I gave in the first post. I'm completely stuck and have no clue how to proceed. I really wouldn't like to give up WP and go for another product, but I don't have much options

The answer might be that your host does not have the server setup so look for 'index.php' as a valid file - so causeing that error.

Ask them to check that index.php IS a valid file and if not to make the change. It's a trivial change for them to make.

Failing that, who is your webhost?

Hi podz, thank you for the reply

It's not hosted with a provider, actually everything is on my own server (Win2000Server + Apache 2.0.55 + PHP 5.1.2 + MySQL 5.0.18)
On the same configuration I have also phpBB2 running. Is this enough to clarify the index.php issue you're referring to ?

I definitely need to go for another product, or am I in the wrong forum ? I saw somewhere a post concerning WordPress.org and WordPress.com

    Thanks

... and, after looking at Podz's response, did you confirm that "index.php" is configured as a default page with your apache install?

Although we don't offer Apache support, you probably want to check your httpd.conf to see what value is specified for "DirectoryIndex".
