For once, IE is "working," and Firefox isn't. (10 posts)

I'm currently in the process of updating and adding several templates to my website for my dedicated users to choose from. I use the same set of PHP files in the creation of all my themes and just set them in their unique directories as usual.

The themes themselves work; index, post, etcetera all works and views properly. My default theme, http://site.leliathomas.com/index.php?wptheme=Clear, works normally, and my currently only other semi-finished theme, http://site.leliathomas.com/index.php?Between+the+Times, works as well. For the most part.

The problem is with the Page Template.

"Clear" is the default theme, and when I am in the alternate, "Between the Times," theme, going to a page (such as http://site.leliathomas.com/about) picks up on the default template, not the chosen one. It seems like a cookie error or something? So, "Between the Times," though it has its own Page Template, picks up on the default template.

The other odd thing is that this only happens in Firefox, not in IE. I have tried clearing my cache and cookies in Firefox to no avail, too. I'm beginning to wonder if it's just my browser, haha!

Any possible idea as to what I am doing wrong?

When I go to http://site.leliathomas.com/index.php?Between+the+Times and click on "About", I see the about page displayed using Between the Times' page template as it should be. This is with Firefox v1.0.4 under Mac OS X v10.4.1.

Wait, never mind. It turns out that http://site.leliathomas.com/index.php?Between+the+Times actually took me to the index page, but displaying Clear as the theme. I do see the problem you are speaking of. Setting the theme to Between the Times does display the index page as it would under Between the Times, but going to the About page reverts back to Clear. Does Between the Times have a page template? Also, what are you using for a theme switch. If you aren't, I highly recommend this plugin (and this version of that plugin): http://dev.wp-plugins.org/browser/theme-switcher/trunk/

I'm using the same version of Firefox as well; happened on 1.0.3, too, as I was working on things then.

Both Clear and Between the Times have page templates, yes. In fact, I just copied over the page template from Clear and edited it for Between the Times. When that didn't work, I edited another theme's page template to fit my needs (hell, I'm lazy and a little blonde with code, so I don't like doing it from scratch or I would XD). Still no luck whenever I tried that.

Also, I am using that exact theme switcher. :/

    Thanks for the reply!

I have no idea whether it's related or not... but in the Clear theme the Page template has the theme-switcher code twice: once as a list, once as a dropdown. On the homepage there is only the dropdown.
Does the Page template call for a different sidebar?

Both of them call their own sidebars. I accidentally have that extra theme switcher in the Clear sidebar (I hadn't decided, previously, which I was going to use). I'll try removing it when I get home, since I'm at work now.

But yes, both have their own sidebars--everything. As said before, I think, I am using the same set of PHP files (index, post, page, search, etcetera) in all my personal themes, just under their respective directories and edited individually according to my needs.

I'm really clueless as to why this is happening, and I haven't been able to find a similar situation anywhere on the net. I find it especially weird that it's only happening in Firefox and not IE (is that happening for everyone else when they visit my site?). Thanks for all the suggestions and comments thus far. <i>Hopefully</i> this will get figured out.

I've done further tweaking to try to figure this out--still to no avail. I have discovered that this issue doesn't happen to the default and classic themes, only to mine. I had a second (note: very unfinished) theme, http://site.leliathomas.com/index.php?wptheme=Burst+of+Passion, and the same thing happens to the pages; the template works, but the page template does not.

The odd thing is that since the "default" page template seems to work in conjunction with Clear (my default) page template just fine, I tried writing over my personal page template in my Between the Times folder with the working one. It still doesn't work! How is that even possible?

I'm running out of ideas and patience. This has been going on for three weeks.

Just tried deleting the "Default" and "Classic" WordPress themes; no change. Tried changing the default theme to "Between the Times," and now it's doing the same thing that the Clear theme did. I'm thinking of just backing up what I can and doing a fresh install or getting a different system. This is absurd.
