Footer navigation menu almost perfect… but why no left & right margins?

Hi folks. New to the forum, but I think this is the right one for this particular question, so here goes:

On this permaculture-related “work in progress”site I’m developing, I’ve managed successfully to reproduce, in the footer, the navigation menu from the header. I did this by following this excellent tutorial from Lynda.com.

However, you’ll notice the white rules above and below the footer nav menu extend to the edges of the blue background. Take a look and you’ll see what I mean.

Anyone have advice on where I should be looking to fix this, so that the bottom nav menu looks just like the top one? Thanks in advance for any help; it’ll be much appreciated.

Oh, and, yes, I am working with a child theme!
