My theme has links at the bottom of the page, presumably in the footer, to websites that have nothing to do with me. How do I get rid of them. Please, I am a newby at this so please don't just say "In your blah-blah panel". I have searched for an answer to this question here and that's what I have found so far.
Thanks in advance.
Have you tried switching to the Twenty Ten theme to see if these links are being added by your current theme?
If you downloaded a free theme somewhere other than on the WordPress theme repository, then chances are your theme contains malicious code.
You should switch themes immediately.

It is not a free theme but I tried switching to the Twenty Ten theme to see if the links were there and they are not. My brother bought it with the intent of creating a blog but soon lost interest. I am reasonably proficient at html(Dreamweaver)and if I could find the code for the footer I should be able to delete the links.
Try looking in footer.php but as Christine said, themes that do this can also do lots of other (sometimes malicious) things to your site.
What Theme are you using?
Where did you get it?
