    It's already unzipped!

When you download a .zip file, OS X automatically unzips it in a folder with the same name as the original file.

When you download a .zip file, OS X automatically unzips it in a folder with the same name as the original file.

In all my years of owning Macs (since 1984), I have never experienced this phenomenon :) Right click on the ZIP download and select Open With > Archive Utility.

Also, what are you planning to do with this download once it is unZIPped?

If you want to install WP on you Mac to try it out without buying a domain and hosting, then you will need to use a local web server. One of the popular ones for Mac is MAMP.

Have a good and thorough read through of this:

    Hi guys,

Thank you very much for your help. You're right, its already unzipped.. I just expected something to pop-up and start installing.

I now downloaded it and created a database and user on the cPanel (step 1 and 2). The handy guide says you can skip step 3 and 4 in the 5 minute install. Can I also skip step 3 and 4 in the detailed instructions and go to step 5?

The problem is: i don't know how to do the following (step 4, In the Root Directory):
"If you need to upload your files to your web server, use an FTP client to upload all the contents of the wordpress directory (but not the directory itself) into the root directory of your web site."
Can you help specify where i do what?

    thanks again..
