Fold Page List Plug in and Excluding Pages

Is there a way to use the exclude page widget and/or tag as well as the fold page list plug-in. it seems that whenever i use one the other doesn’t work. I am trying to get both to work so I can customize my sidebar menu. Basically what I want to do is get my sidebar to only show the sub pages of the active page (and hide all the inactive pages and their subpages) and still be collapsible.
